Christine Chu

Studied at the Folkwang-Hochschule in Essen. 1992 first engagement in Carlotta Ikeda's eight-piece women's butoh ensemble "Ariadone", tours through Europe, South America and Japan. Assistant and training director for Ikeda's classes. In 2007, Ikeda created the solo dance piece "Wave" for her. Besides, career as a contemporary dancer, with Susanne Linke, Ingo Reulecke, Kim van der Boon, "Rubato" and from 1999 to 2003 in Portugal with the "Companhia Paulo Ribeiro". Lives and works in southern Germany again since 2003. Own productions: Vom Glücken des Tages, 2006 (Prize for the best dance performance, Stuttgart Theater Prize) Fragen an Ellen, 2007 FARBE!!, 2008 stadt.körper, 2009 ICHEN, 2010 In addition, collaboration as a performer in numerous dance and theater productions. Since 2006 teaching position for dance and choreography in the subject Intermediales Gestalten at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart. Currently studying for a Master's degree in Performance/Theater at the HDK Bern as a scholarship holder of the Beatrice and Otto Tschumi Foundation. A main focus in C. Chu's artistic and pedagogical activities is on interdisciplinary work.
