Iya Tundé, la Mére est revenue
Documentary by Laure Malécot (52 min.) about Germaine Acogny, a French-Senegalese choreographer, dancer, and founder of the Ecole des Sables in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal. Produced by Moctar Nidouga Bâ-Mediatik, Dakar 2017.
The story of Germaine Acogny, a French-Senegalese choreographer, dancer, and dance teacher, through her teaching and creations, alongside the pivotal period of her 70th birthday, the age at which she finally devoted herself entirely to her personal career. From the workshops at the Ecole des Sables she founded in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal, to the master classes she gives in Africa, Asia, and Europe, to her often autobiographical choreographies and the testimonies of her collaborators, this film lifts the veil on the personality, motivations, and career of this extraordinary artist, who has remained at the forefront of her field for more than half a century.
An event organized by the ifa Gallery Stuttgart, in cooperation with Stuttgarter Filmwinter and the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance.
