The Internationale Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival Stuttgart provides an annual overview of the latest international developments in the young solo dance theater scene. Choreographers and dancers from all over the world present their solo pieces, which offer a new, original, imaginative and unusual performance with their own style.
In the same format of the international competition, there is an annual evening for the Stuttgart independent dance scene. Since 2020, the Stuttgart SOLO CHOREO has been held as a prelude to the international festival, which is jointly organized by the production center and the vhs Stuttgart.
On this evening, only dancers and choreographers from Stuttgart and the region are given a stage to show their artistic work. The evening runs out of competition with the rest of the competition and the pieces are not awarded prizes. Applications are possible for the Stuttgart evening as well as for the competition with different pieces.
Stuttgart SOLO CHOREO was created at the suggestion of the Stuttgart Cultural Office in order to reinvigorate the connection between the Rotebühlplatz meeting place and the independent dance scene and to create a long-term platform for the independent dance and performance scene.
