TanzPulsSüd is a regional alliance of organizations representing the independent dance scenes in Nuremberg, Munich, Mannheim, Freiburg, Stuttgart, and Bamberg. Since 2022, Tanzzentrale der Region Nürnberg e.V., Tanztendenz München e.V., EinTanzHaus e.V. and Schwindelfrei Festival (Mannheim), Tanznetz Freiburg gUG, Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance e.V. (Stuttgart) and CONdance e.V. (Bamberg) have been working together to create sustainable structures for artistic exchange and to strengthen the position of contemporary dance across southern Germany.
At the heart of the alliance is the support of artists working in the independent dance and performance sector. Through the 4exchange+ residency program and regular network meetings, TanzPulsSüd fosters dialogue between the six cities, supports artistic development, and creates new opportunities for collaboration and long-term exchange.
The residencies are designed to support artists at different stages of their creative practice. In each partner city, residents are integrated into existing local structures such as professional training classes, workshops, festivals, and other community activities. Public formats—including showings and lecture demonstrations—offer insights into the artistic process, making the diversity of southern Germany’s contemporary dance landscape accessible to both professional audiences and the wider public.
This project is supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste (2025/2026) with funding from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, as well as by the Bavarian Association for Contemporary Dance (BLZT)with funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
