Dance is often used in general health promotion. The music, the physical activity, the joy of dancing - all this leads to improvements in physical and mental health. And what is the reality for people for whom dance is the basis of their existence?
The blind spot is professional dance; an early career end or early exit from the industry is part of the artist's job description. In dance in particular, there are numerous reasons such as injuries, overtraining, emotional stress, financial worries and many more that stand in the way of a long and healthy career. This applies not only to stage dancers in major theaters, but also to actors in the independent dance and performance scene. The health of artists and cultural professionals is of central importance for a sustainable and constantly developing art and culture scene. As the central point of contact for the independent dance scene in Stuttgart, the PZ sees it as its duty to promote encounters on the topic of health in dance. With cooperation partners from the fields of dance medicine, nutrition, mental health and resilience, a comprehensive offer is to be initiated.
The offer will be implemented as part of a series of events in the form of workshops on five Saturdays in 2025. The courses consist of theoretical and practical elements.
