TanzPlusSüd is a network of independent dance organisations from Nuremberg, Munich, Mannheim, Freiburg, Stuttgart and Bamberg. Since 2022, the partners have been working to create structures for sustainable artistic exchange and to visibly strengthen contemporary dance in southern Germany. The exchange formats include the 4exchange+ residencies and the Network Days, which deepen the connection between the independent dance scenes of the six cities. TanzPlusSüd is once again launching a new year full of artistic encounters and inspiration with these tried-and-tested formats. In 2026, the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance e.V. will once again participate with its own residency, thereby representing Stuttgart’s independent dance scene within the alliance.
We are calling on dancers and choreographers from the cities of Nuremberg, Munich, Mannheim, Freiburg, Bamberg and Stuttgart to apply for a 4exchange+ exchange residency in one of the partner cities. A total of six 7- to 9-day residencies will be held in the six partner cities, enriching the local scenes with workshops, training sessions and public showings, sharings or lecture demonstrations.
Residency periods:
Nuremberg: between 13 and 31 July 2026
Stuttgart: between 23 October and 1 November 2026
Bamberg: between 30 October and 11 November 2026
Munich: between 16 and 27 November 2026
Freiburg: between 17 and 28 November 2026
Mannheim: between 30 November and 13 December 2026
The exact duration will be agreed individually between the host venues and the selected artists.
Application procedure:
Dancers and choreographers whose work is based in one of the participating cities are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted via the application form
Application deadline: 30 April 2026, 11.59 pm
Each applicant may apply for a maximum of two locations (NOT their own home town!).
Please indicate your priorities by listing the locations in the appropriate order (example:
“Nuremberg, Bamberg”: Both locations are of interest, with Nuremberg being the stronger preference).
This project is made possible by the Bayerischen Landesverbandstag für zeitgenössischen Tanz (BLZT) with funding from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
