Workshop participants will explore the archaeology of energy. Every body has different ways of expressing its unique energy and giving it form. The method developed by Doris Uhlich is called “Energetic Icons” and gives rise to individual and collective forms of energy dance. Movement becomes the body’s own fuel; workshop participants gradually move deeper into a dance in which the energy of a movement becomes more important than its form.

Doris Uhlich is an Austrian choreographer, performer, and dance educator. In her productions, she often challenges conventional formats and body images: Among other things, she works with people from diverse backgrounds and with different physical characteristics, reveals the potential of nudity beyond eroticization and provocation, explores the relationship between humans and machines in multifaceted ways, and examines the future of the human body in the age of surgical and genetic perfection. She has received numerous prizes and awards.

The workshop is taking place in collaboration with Theater Rampe and is aimed toward professional dancers. Artists from related fields, as well as dancers with a background in dance and an appropriate level of training, are also welcome. Doris Uhlich will celebrate the German premiere of her production “Sonne” at Theater Rampe on October 27 and 28, 2023, at 8 p.m. on both nights.
