Deirdre was born in Ireland and completed her professional training at Bush Davies School and Laine Theatre Arts England. She was one of the first Irish dancers to be awarded ARAD status with the Royal Academy of Dance.

Upon graduation Deirdre entered PACT Ballet Company, South Africa and performed in a wide variety of both classical and contemporary repertoire. In Ireland she was recruited to be one of the founding dancers of Night Star Dance Company, who are renowned for their utilization of dance in harmony with the modality of film.

Deirdre’s teaching career commenced upon her retirement as a professional dancer and was born from a desire to pass her knowledge onward to the next generation. She qualified as a teacher with the RAD and specializes in supporting pre-professional dancers and working professional dancers to explore and to sensitively engage with their own resources and capacity.

Deirdre’s expertise as a teacher combines her deep understanding of the anatomy of the human body in motion and her unique integration of a variety of somatic modalities to develop the musical, technical and artistic potential of dancers.

Her training as a yoga teacher and deep somatic work allows Deirdre to offer each person an invitation to connect, observe, adjust, refine and enjoy the sense of movement within and of the body through ballet.

Deirdre has taught professional ballet class for Dance Ireland, Stadt Theater Freiburg and Tanzbüro Basel. She teaches with English and basic German.
