Kevin Albancando Tuntaquimba (he/him) is a freelance dancer, choreographer, and dance educator from Freiburg, currently living in Leipzig. Since the age of 15, he has been teaching himself the dance styles of popping and breaking and remains deeply rooted in the urban dance scene to this day. Since 2019, he has been involved in numerous productions as a performer and choreographer in the Baden-Württemberg region. His latest choreographic work was created in collaboration with writer Martina Hefter and musician Patrice Libep in November 2024. “Soft War” premiered at the Schauspiel Leipzig.
In his work as a dancer and choreographer, he continues to develop his movement language with influences from contemporary dance, deconstructing popping and breaking techniques in order to re-explore them with contemporary approaches.
In the Profi-Training we explore Funk Dance with a focus on Popping. At its core is the "Pop"—a controlled muscle contraction that creates the style’s signature sharpness and groove. Acting as a rhythmic pulse, the Pop provides structure and flow, keeping dancers connected to the beat. We start with the fundamentals: groove, isolation, precision, and timing. Through drills and playful exercises, we integrate these techniques into our movement, sharpening control and musicality. Partner work and freestyle exploration encourage creativity and personal expression.
