Maura Morales (Jury ISTTF)

Maura Morales completed her studies at the University of Fine Arts in Camagüey/Cuba. She was a soloist at various state theaters in Cuba, Germany and Switzerland and has been a regular guest at renowned international dance festivals as a freelance dancer and choreographer since 2008. She has been awarded numerous prizes, including second prize for choreography at the “11th International Solo Dance Theater Festival in Stuttgart” in 2008, the audience prize for the best solo at the “Masdanza Festival for Contemporary Dance in the Canary Islands”, followed by first prize at the International Dance Competition Hanover 2010 for the duo “Suits” together with Felix Landerer. In 2013, she received the renowned Kurt Jooss Prize for her dance piece “Wunschkonzert”, as well as the jury prize for the best dance performance at the international dance fair in Huesca/Spain. In 2014, she was awarded the prize for performing arts by the state capital Düsseldorf. In 2015 she received the DURI prize at the international dance festival ACT in Bilbao/Spain.

Since 2010, Maura has led her own dance company, the Cooperativa Maura Morales, for which she has since created a number of full-length pieces and with which she regularly tours throughout Europe, Asia and South America. She is also a sought-after guest choreographer and has created commissioned works for the state and city theaters of “Ballett Vorpommern”, “Ballett Magdeburg”, “Endedans”/Cuba, as well as for “Provincial Dances Theatre”/Russia, among others.
