The Stuttgart Flamenco Festival was founded in 2010 by dancer and choreographer Catarina Mora. Since then, the festival has taken place annually and has become firmly established during the first week of the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays. In 2020, the festival was included in the institutional funding program of the City of Stuttgart.
By scheduling the festival during the holiday season, dancers from all over Germany are able to participate. The festival presents performances by companies from Spain as well as the “flamenquitos©” evening on the stage of Theaterhaus Stuttgart. This is followed by seven days of workshops and smaller events dedicated to flamenco, taking place from Monday to Saturday at the Produktionszentrum Tanz und Performance. Over the course of nine days, flamenco is experienced, created, and celebrated in a concentrated and vibrant format.
The festival is held under the patronage of the chairman of Club Español Stuttgart e.V., who states: “I would like to thank the founders of the festival for their commendable work in promoting and sharing a part of Spanish culture in Germany.”
