It gets under our skin, brings sweat to our brows, and makes our pulse race. Fear is a fascinating emotion that can both paralyze and inspire us. It ranges from a dull sense of anxiety and sudden fright to a pleasant thrill. But what triggers it? How does it feel physically? And how does it influence our actions? PHOBIAGORA explores this emotion through moving images. Inspired by the sculptor Louise Bourgeois, who found metaphors for her fears in her famous “Cells”—enclosed, cell-like spaces—the performance “Places of Fear” takes shape. Four characters confront their fears. They examine their life stories, step out of their comfort zones, and confront the audience with the many faces of fear.
