Juliette Villemin †

Born in Paris, dancer and dance teacher Juliette Villemin was trained in classical dance in Bilbao (Spain). At the age of 15, she received a training scholarship from the Basque government.

In 1994, she emigrated to Germany to pursue her solo contract at the Wiesbaden State Theater. Until the end of the 2001 season, she danced choreographies by Ben Van Cauwenberg, Dimitri Simkin, Georg Ballanchine, Heinz Spoerli and James Sutherland, among others. She worked as a freelance dancer and teacher in Stuttgart.

She was also a long-standing member of the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance e.V. in Stuttgart, where she regularly taught both classical and contemporary professional training. She has been commissioned as a guest teacher by the Musikhochschule Frankfurt a. M., the Nordhausen Tanztheater, the Tanz und Theater Werkstatt in Ludwigsburg and the Tanzlabor 21 Frankfurt a. M. at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm.

In 2005, she was nominated for the best German dance solo at the euroscene festival in Leipzig with her solo "bestselbstseller".

Juliette Villemin died suddenly on January 8, 2023. She was active as a dancer, dance teacher & choreographer in the Stuttgarts performing arts scene for almost 20 years and played a decisive role in shaping it through her artistic work as well as through her ensemble Juliette Villemin & Team, which she founded in 2013.
