Stuttgart SOLO CHOREO 2025

Auftakt zum 29. Internationalen Solo-Tanz-Theater Festival

  • Wed, 12.03.2025
    8 pm
  • TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz

Once again this year, exceptional talents from the Stuttgart dance and performance scene will present their work as a prelude to the festival. The programme is located at the interface of different forms of dance and movement art and reflects the quality and creativity of the local scene. The pieces in the solo choreography are not in competition with the international festival competition and are not awarded prizes.

In addition to an exclusive professional training session with jury member Maura Morales for the Stuttgart dance scene and a professional work store in the production center, we would like to draw particular attention to the new festival format “Solo Dialog”, in which two Stuttgart artists, Stella Covi and Martina Gunkel, are involved.
In addition, Stuttgart artists and international festival participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and network at “Cake, Coffee, Collabs” in the PZ on Saturday.

Programme

dis_figured
Choreography & Performance: Eva Baumann

„dis_figured“ explores the discrepancy between the levels of meaning of figure, shape, understanding and the unrecognisable, deformed, intangible. The dance miniature is a choreographic puzzle that understands the body as material. Repetitive elements at the interface to the sculptural and pictorial break rhythmically from the rigidity of limitation.

Niemandsland
Choreography & Performance: Jonas Florian

“Niemandsland“ deals with the isolation of an individual and the question of identity, values, and humanity. How affects the desire for connection an individual? And who are we, if we have never learned to be with others?

Layers of Ash
Choreography: KOMA&Ko/Magdalena Weniger
Performance: Ayça Turgut

“Layers of Ash“ is inspired by the power, endurance, unpredictability, variability, danger, fertility and beauty of volcanoes and our passion for them. Choreography: KOMA&Ko/Magdalena Weniger in collaboration with original cast Youngwon Song.

Thinner Skin
Choreography: Bar Gonen
Performance: Seung Hwan Lee

This solitude originates from the assumption that a person cannot truly communicate with another person. The feeling of existence is so unique and strange that it cannot be shared with anyone else. Inspired from Existentialism in philosophy.

CRASH
Choreography & Performance: Paco Ladrón de Guevara

As an adaptation of the full-evening piece titled YAGA, CRASH introduces an aircraft pilot, a pilot so ambitious to reach the sky that he ended up with nothing but a devastating crash to the ground. A metaphor for the professional artistic career, prompting us to question the true meaning of the word “success” in the creative field. This performance explores what happens after the crash. The higher one tries to get, the harder the fall.

ORDYH
Choreography & Performance: Stella Covi

ORDYH is a work that explores the profound connections between natural spaces and the omnipresent element of water. It is an ode to the present moment - a celebration of the here and now - crafted through the human body, encompassing flesh, fluids, emotions, and everything that flows within and between us.

In addition, a professional workshop and a Networking Opportunity for Stuttgart artists and international festival participants will take place again this year as part of the festival at the Produktionszentrum Tanz + Performance.
