Sophie Gisbertz

Sophie Gisbertz is a dancer and choreographer specializing in contemporary dance and dance theater. She also works in the fields of performance, acting and project management and is a certified GYROKINESIS® teacher.

She studied at the Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance in Munich and in the SEEDs program of Cie. Cobosmika in Palamos/Spain. In 2019 she received her stage diploma. Since then, she has worked for and with choreographers and companies such as Smadar Goshen, Daura Hernández García, Nina Kurzeja, Lior Lev, Claudia Senoner, Lillian Stillwell, Cie. Szene 2wei and Katja Wachter. She is a member of Grégory Darcy's inclusive ensemble "DieTanzKompanie" and works with the initiatives InterAKT, BLOMST!, Saalfrei and Cie. ZEIT/GEIST.

She has been a guest at renowned theaters in Germany and internationally, such as the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck, the Staatsoper Stuttgart and the Bærum Kulturhus Sandvika/Norway. In addition to her work as a dancer, she also took on the role of choreographic assistant and rehearsal director for the production of "Eugen Onegin" at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich.

Sophie produced the short film "STAYING INSIDE", which was shown at the tanz.tausch tanz + performance Festival in Mönchengladbach and Cologne in 2023. 

She has also received scholarships from the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Research, Dachverband Tanz Deutschland and Bürgerstiftung Stuttgart.
