Johannes Blattner works as a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator.

As a dancer, he has performed with numerous theatre companies and independent productions, most recently spending four years as a soloist with the Ballet Theatre Pforzheim. In 2019, he was awarded the Audience Prize there. Today, he works on independent projects in both national and international contexts, moving between dance, improvisation, and inclusive formats.

In his own choreographic work, he is particularly interested in connecting different artistic disciplines. This creates spaces in which bodies, encounters, and social issues enter into dialogue with one another. In works such as Bound, he explores forms of intimacy and connection, questioning which images of masculinity and relationships shape us and what alternative ways of being together might become possible.

Since 2013, Johannes has taught dance and movement in a variety of contexts. His focus lies on contemporary movement practices, floorwork, and improvisation. He sees dance not only as an artistic practice, but also as a means of fostering perception, expression, and human connection.

A particular area of interest for him is the therapeutic power of dance and movement, and their potential to open physical and social spaces for diverse communities and individuals.
